The spherical inner wall is circled by a band of netting, with a wider surface than normal tea strainer. The function of the tea strainer remains intact no matter which direction the tea leaves are pushed inside the kyusu.

<p>Tokoname, with a history of 1000 years, is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, a city of pottery steeped in history. Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, is located on the west coast of the Chita Peninsula facing Ise Bay.</p>
