Tokoname Ware Teruyuki Japanese Teapot

Teruyuki's specialty is the "Inka" technique. The number of seal flowers applied to a single teapot ranges from 100 to 200. A great deal of effort, time and care is required to create and stamp the flowers onto the surface of the teapot. The "inka" is not a simple stamping technique, but is done with care and attention.

Tokoname teapot is a beautiful craft that requires exemplary techniques. Tokoname City has produced craftsmen with excellent skills. Each of these craftsmen developed their own unique characteristics, and these characteristics were reflected in the production of tea utensils. The government created the title of "traditional craftsman" in 1973 to honor their achievements and to protect the traditional cultural heritage.

The Japan Traditional Craftsmen's Association was established and given the authority to manage and certify traditional craftsmen. There are 36 registered traditional craftsmen of Tokoname ware. They continues to explore the path of ceramics and seek further progress.
